April 2018 David SanteeMy name is David Santee and players know me as Thunder97. I am currently the Director of Figure Skating at the Oakton Ice Arena in Park Ridge, Illinois. I was a competitive figure skater back in the day. My claim to fame is I competed in both the 1976 and 1980 Olympics, finishing 6th in 76 and 4th in 1980. I lasted long enough to compete in 7 Worlds Championships, winning a Silver Medal in 1981 behind Scott Hamilton. In 2015, I was inducted into the US Figure Skating Hall of Fame as well as the ISI Hall of Fame. My signature was skating to the music from Rocky and was nicknamed Rocky on Ice by ABC during the 1980 Olympics.

Currently, I work with young competitive skaters, which I really enjoy, as well as traveling the World as a Technical judge. I worked the Sochi Olympics as an Official.

I have 2 sons, one of who is an Analytical Scientist, and the other who is an Officer in the Army. He is a West Point graduate who played hockey there. I am a proud dog owner, with a Golden Retriever named Tazer after Blackhawks Captain, Jonathan Toews.

I have played Sim baseball since the company was known as Simnasium. I have always loved baseball. The two things that drew me to this game are the history of baseball and the statistics of the game. I have always loved stats in sports. I love how this game allows you to be as involved with the game to game operations as you want. There are some settings that I leave alone, and others that I manipulate. I prefer to customize each player’s tendencies. I am a lifetime Cubs fan and my favorite player all time is Greg Maddux. I was heartbroken in the early 90’s when the Cubs let him escape to the Braves. As a result, I try to make sure he is on my team, despite his hefty price tag. As far as hitters, I have used Ken Griffey Jr and Josh Gibson the most. I have a warm spot in my heart for Jimmie Foxx because he led my team to my first World Series Championship. I have been a participant in all 52 of The Who’s Your Daddy league. My lifetime record is 10,595- 10,137 with 9 titles. My first team, the Brockton Shockers, finished 80-82. I usually play one team at a time, mainly due to my travel schedule. I am looking forward to playing many more years, and hopefully defeating Dayne a few times.
